About the CTEC Certification
In an effort to maintain the highest standard of excellence, Progressive Tax Group mandates that all tax consultants complete the CTEC certification prior to offering tax consultations to our clients.
California Tax Education Council (CTEC) is an educational organization that was created to maintain professional tax education standards, approve tax firms that abide by these standards, and facilitate tax preparer compliance so that American taxpayers receive the best service possible. CTEC certification is made up of the following courses, the completion of which is required:
- New tax law highlights
- Deductions Overview
- Claiming dependents
- Interest and Dividends
- Child Care Credit
- Pensions and Annuities
- Retirement Income
- Social Security Income
- Filing Status
- Earned Income Credit
- Business Ethics
Once our tax consultants obtain the CTEC certification, they must continually complete 20 hours of ongoing tax education on an annual basis and submit the record each year directly to CTEC.
